01User problem

People come back from trips, events and weekends away with hundreds of photos — and then spend far too long deciding what to post. The hard part isn't one picture. It's choosing, from a camera roll full of near-duplicates, the handful that tell the story.

Rove is an independently built consumer product that makes it easier to organise and select photos for social sharing.

02My role

Rove is my own product. My work covers the product concept, consumer UX, visual direction, the photo-selection journeys and application development.

04Design approach

The design focus is reducing decision fatigue while preserving the person's own taste: helping them get from a large camera roll to a selection they're happy with, without taking the choice away from them.

05Key decisions

  1. 01

    Reduce decision fatigue.

Choosing is the hard part, not editing. The flow is built around narrowing a large set down to the few photos worth sharing.

  2. 02

Let the photos be the interface.

The content is the point. Interface chrome stays quiet so the pictures carry the screen.

  3. 03

    Preserve personal taste.

The selection should still feel like the person's own. Rove helps them choose; it doesn't choose for them.
